Valentinas Masalskis

Valentinas Masalskis was born in Kaunas, on April 11, 1954. In 1976, he completed his studies in the Mastery of Acting at Lithuanian State Conservatoire. In 1976-1992, he worked as an actor at the Kaunas State Academic Drama Theatre. Masalskis has been an independent artist since 1992. In 1993, together with other artists he established the studio Menas į šoną (Menų sambūris in 1995-1999). In 2009, he established the Troupe P.S. and in 2011, he founded the Klaipėda Youth Theatre. Since 2010, Valentinas Masalskis has been giving lectures at the Klaipėda University; is a professor. In 1996, Valentinas Masalskis was granted the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Award, and in 2007, the Order for Merits to Lithuania (Cross of the Knight). The artist has performed numerous roles both in theatre and films. His earlier works include, inter alia: Offending the Audience (German: Publikumsbeschimpfung) by Peter Handke, Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett, The Lesson (French: La Leçon) by Eugène Ionesco, Vidmantas Bartulis (opera).
